This page explains what One More Lap collects about the people who read it, why, and how you can ask for any of it back or gone. It is written in plain language on purpose, because a policy nobody can read is not much of a policy.

Who runs this site

One More Lap is written and run by Gwen. She is based in Switzerland, and the site is aimed at readers there and across the EU, so both the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and the EU's General Data Protection Regulation apply to how your data is handled here.

Subscriber storage

When you sign up for the newsletter, One More Lap stores your email address and the date and time you subscribed. That timestamp is your consent record, and it is what lets Gwen show a regulator that you actually asked to be on the list, rather than being added to it.

Your email address is stored in Supabase, the database this site runs on, and it also reaches the email service used to send the newsletter. Sending a newsletter without handing your address to an email provider is not something that is technically possible, so this step is unavoidable if you want to receive posts by email.

The legal basis for keeping your email address is your consent, given when you subscribe. You can withdraw that consent at any time, and every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link that does exactly that.

Booking data

If you book a coaching session, One More Lap records what the booking is for, the date and time you chose, and the contact details needed to confirm it with you. This is stored in Supabase.

The legal basis here is the contract formed when you make a booking: keeping this data is necessary to actually run the session you booked.

Cookieless analytics

One More Lap counts page views using Vercel Web Analytics. It does not set a cookie, does not track you across other websites, and does not build a profile tied to your identity. It tells Gwen roughly how many people read a given post and where they came from, in aggregate, and nothing more specific than that.

Because nothing here identifies you individually and no cookie is set, this site does not need to show you a cookie banner. That is a deliberate choice, not an oversight: adding a single tracking script that behaves differently would bring the banner back, so this site does not add one.

Who else sees your data

Three outside services process data on One More Lap's behalf, each for a specific job:

  • Supabase stores the database itself: subscriber records, booking records, and posts.
  • Resend, or a comparable transactional email service, sends the newsletter and any booking confirmation emails.
  • Vercel hosts the site and runs its cookieless analytics.

Each of these providers may process data outside Switzerland and the EU, in the ordinary course of running a cloud service. Gwen has chosen providers that publish their own data protection commitments, and none of them are given more of your data than the job in front of them requires.

Retention

  • Newsletter subscriber records are kept for as long as you stay subscribed. Unsubscribing removes you from active sending, and the underlying record is deleted 30 days later. That window exists so an accidental unsubscribe can be undone, and nothing more.
  • Booking records are deleted or anonymised 24 months after the date of the booking.
  • Analytics data is aggregate and not tied to an individual reader, so there is no per-person record to delete in the first place.

Deletion requests

You can ask for your data to be deleted at any time by writing to hello@onemorelap.coach. Say roughly what you signed up for or booked, and which address to search for, and Gwen will confirm once it is done. She replies to these herself, so give her a little time, and expect a plain answer rather than a form letter.

Beyond deletion, you can also ask what data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for a copy in a portable format, or object to how it is used. The same address covers all of these, under both the Swiss FADP and the GDPR.

Children

Changes to this policy

If what this site collects or how it is used changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. There is no separate changelog: the current version of this page is always the current policy.
